Mr. Aungthan Oo representing Republic of the Union of Myanmar (ပြည်ထောင်စု သမ္မတ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်‌):

Dr. Aung Than Oo is a citizen of Myanmar, from Southeast Asia region, region of ASEAN. Dr. Aung Than Oo is young medical professional leader as well as youth policy activist. His mission are creating peaceful healthy life for everyone who live in the world, strengthening education health system and implementing the good policies for future young generation; Young generation must create sustainable peace building.

He is studying Master of Public Management at Aldersgate collage Myanmar campus. And he also studying political related subjects such as government institution reform, international relation, pluralism, etc… In addition, He was graduated from University of medicine (2) with degree M.B., B.S in 2014. In 2017, He was awarded C.P.M.A (UK) by Edinburgh Napier University. He attended humanitarian emergency related training, gender sensitive in peace building training at Global Campus, Unite State Institute of Peace. We analyzed his qualification and expertise in health sector, policy making, research and capacity building for youth are satisfied according to his activities and certifications.

He is a medical professional leader as well as youth policy activist. The first monument he realized that he wanted to involve in the public health field sectors and youth development sectors are for effective youth policies that promote community empowerment was as a result of what is going on currently in his country as a result of conflicts. He wanted to provide support to the poor helpless people in hard to reach areas that do not have access to proper medical attention. His previous work is social accountability, equity and inclusion officer in NGO with cooperation with UNOPS and government. The name of projects he organized are “Community based Active case finding of TB project, MDR TB project, MARC project, MNCH project, Health system strengthening projects in integrated approach”. These three components of his works are main frameworks supported to state government for improving the accountability process when services given, His responsibility is raising awareness among stakeholders and advocate for accountability consents, provide technical support for project staffs and government staffs. He organized community meetings and face to face meetings with influential community representatives and key stakeholders, and speaking up at coordination meetings in project site areas etc.,)

Besides, he worked as conflict sensitivity analysis officer in Rakhine state. His Responsibility are watched out conflict analysis, wrote conflict note, making dialogues between the ethnic groups for successful outcome. In 2016, He worked as Mobile medical team leader in Yangon, Bago and Rakhine Region which granted by Population service international, gave treatment and care of patients including the vulnerable groups. He attended GMS 2018 campaign as Myanmar delegate. In 2014 and 2016, He served as state coordinator in National youth congress; discussed about issues and problems .In 2015, He involved in GMS malaria prevention and control activities. From point of PEACE building process, he has promoted inclusion of youth form diverse backgrounds helps bring about creative innovations, providing space for learning from each other and discussing about the cultural issues. He always advocated to local and national authorities for the inclusion of youth, made trainings and workshops to community based CBO and CSO. He implemented open up channel for community empowerment through the media- a crucial approach for peace building processes in Myanmar. In UNFPA events, he actively discussed about reproductive health right and GBV protection from gender perspective. Now, He is working as Research officer at Center for social and economic development center Yangon branch. His responsibility are analyzing for economic development trend and social condition and living life of Myanmar people.

He is also a member of Myanmar Medical Association, Myanmar Medical Council. He actively involved in MMA medical activities and youth development program. Youth development program provide capacity building, leadership management and innovation ideas workshop as facilitator. He is an administrative founder of Self Help group of Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon, objective of health system strengthening and sustainable development of activities. In 2018, he involves as lobbyer for stop civil wars in Kachin state of Myanmar (Myanmar Peace development). In 2008, he served as medical doctor volunteer in Ayarwaddy region because of cyclone Nargis.
He is a CEO of Bagan heritage trust organization which protects heritage sites, supported financial need to government site, restoration of government. He also associates with other social welfare clubs for helping homeless people, victim from natural disaster, man-made disaster.

The main achievement; he have had meaningful practical experience in both community based public health field and peace building process. He has organized Social accountability, Equity and Inclusion training to 450 government staffs. He gave medical education and quality education to youth population up to grass root area. He has skills of project management (organization development, team management and leadership management, coordination and communication) and working experience in this related field. His strong democratic leadership and organized skills lead to young people as positive outcome. He confident the skills in presentation, coordination (with many stakeholders), planning and time management, making of budgeting effectively to community levels, advocating, monitoring and supervision according to Log frame and writing for donor report(USAID, 3MDG)in timely in manner. Another his expertise skill is diplomatic skill.

His International experiences are; attended as Myanmar Ambassador in Global youth summit+ IYS in Nepal, as Myanmar medical doctor in Medical training in PSI head quarter, as Myanmar delegate in Global peace foundation Thailand 60% scholar
He said that negotiating with leaders from local ethnic groups who are inciting violence against the Rohingya community was big challenge. He saw peace in Myanmar as an outcome of long process, not just of sporadic activism. Therefore we need new youth generation which accepts realism and identical nationalism. Every young people must be dream, some dream can lead to conflict, need right pathways for young people. In conclusion, we need healthy and inspire young people, for PEACE process and National building for sustainable future.
